Dec 29, 2023; Arlington, Texas, USA; Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day leads warm-ups prior to the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic against the Missouri Tigers at AT&T Stadium.

Ohio State’s projected scholarship players for this year reached 86 on March 8 with a verbal commitment from Nick McLarty, a punter from Australia who plans to enroll at the school this summer.

The total puts the Buckeyes one above the NCAA-mandated limit of 85, though it is not until August before they must be at that threshold and attrition in the months ahead remains likely.

The transfer portal reopens on April 16, allowing undergraduates seeking immediate eligibility to put their names in the online database over a period of two weeks. Four of Ohio State’s players entered the portal during the spring transfer window last year.

For a breakdown of the Buckeyes' allotted scholarships for 2024, the latest breakdown can be found below.

Note: This is an unofficial tally that will be updated as needed and maintained by The Dispatch. Ohio State does not release its scholarship numbers.
