Ohio State running back Chip Trayanum put his name in the NCAA transfer portal on Wednesday.

Trayanum was the Buckeyes’ second leading rusher this season, running for 373 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-winning dive into the end zone to complete the comeback at Notre Dame in September.

Nov 25, 2023; Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA; Ohio State Buckeyes running back Chip Trayanum (19) carries the ball during the NCAA football game against the Michigan Wolverines at Michigan Stadium. Ohio State lost 30-24.

He spent two seasons with the Buckeyes after transferring from Arizona State and moved between both sides of the ball.

After Trayanum was a running back in his two seasons with the Sun Devils, he started out at linebacker last year at Ohio State, then returned to the offensive side in October.

A native of Akron who was a standout at Archbishop Hoban High School, Trayanum leaves the Buckeyes’ depth in the backfield a bit thinner.

Three out of Ohio State’s five scholarship backs from last season are now leaving as Evan Pryor entered the portal on Monday and Miyan Williams announced later that he is declaring for the NFL draft.

That leaves only Dallan Hayden and TreVeyon Henderson remaining, and Henderson, the Buckeyes’ leading rusher is eligible to enter the draft for the first time.
